Brandon Adams vs Jermall Charlo Confirmed on June 15
Brandon Adams vs Jarmall Charlo Confirmed on June 15 on Showtime to defend his WBC Interim Middleweight Title. Adams was previously been linked to fight Golovkin but it seems like his promoters have matched him up with Jarmall (28-0, 22 KOs)
Why Jermall Instead Of GGG?
There could be two reason why Adams chose to fight Jarmall instead of GGG. The first reason could be that he is being paid more money to fight Charlo in PBC than GGG on DAZN. The second one is very obvious. He knows that he has better chances of winning the Jermall fight instead of GGG.
Charlo is way less experienced than Golovkin and Adams have sparred with GGG before and according to him, GGG is the hardest hitter he has come across.
“Jermall Charlo to face Brandon Adams on June 15th on Showtime… #boxing @espn,”
said Steve Kim from ESPN.
There were rumors on a lot of boxing sites that Adams have chosen to fight GGG but it seems like they were all wrong.
Brandon Adams’ Not So Promising Record
Adams hasn’t been a promising fighter whenever tested against a better fighter. Adams lost to John Thompson by a second-round knockout in may 2015 and before that in 2014 Willie Monroe Jr. beat him by a 10 round unanimous decision. Before these defeats he had a four-fight winning streak. Adams is current #3 in WBA and #8 in WBO.
Jermall Coming Off From The Worst Career Match
Charlo’s last fight against Matt Korobov (28-2, 14 KOs) was probably the worst fight of his career. He won the fight by a controversial unanimous decision. According to the fans, he lost the fight.
He is a great fighter but the amateur boer Korobov had the best of him. Korobov nailed some hard shorts at Charlo. It almost seemed like the judges favored him. Charlo was supposed to fight Willie Monroe J. but ended up fighting Korobov who showed him the time of his life.
Where Does That Leave GGG To?
Adams being out of the picture, the fans are wondering whom will Golovkin be fighting. Knowing that the next fight would be the Trilogy Fight against Saul Canelo, GGG won’t be getting into any risky fights like WBO Champion Demetrius Andrade.
Kamil Szeremeta is being considered for GGG for now.
Adams is not ready for GGG and Jermall really need to show is worth again. GGG is just focusing on the Trilogy Fight.
Will Adams vs Jermall be a good match to see?
