Keith Thurman vs. Adrien Broner could be happening
Thurman vs Broner Roumor
Rumor has it that Keith ‘One Time ‘ Thurman (29-0, 22 KOs) could be defending his title against the former four division champion Adrien ‘The Problem ‘ Broner (33-4-1, 24 Kos) in his next fight. The Thurman vs Broner fight isn’t confirmed. Hopefully this would just remain a rumor.
Giving Broner a chance at the title is going to make a lot of boxing fans angry. After Broner’s loss to WBA secondary welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao last January, he should be earning the world title shot rather being handed over to him.
Why Thurman – Broner Shouldn’t Happen?
Thurman-Borner would have been great fight 4 years back before Adrien was beaten by Shawn Porter, Mikey Garcia and Manny Pacquiao. But at the moment he’s not winning fights and just living off the past accomplishments.
If the Thurman-Broner fight goes down, the boxing fans would be really upset.
Thurman was shielded for making a soft defense against the 34-year-old Josesto provided he would have been out of the ring for 22 months since his last fight against Danny Garcia in March 2017
Knowing that this fight won’t be happening, the boxing fans expected that Thurman would get back fighting world class opponents like Manny Pacquiao, Errol Spence Jr., Shawn Porter, Terence Crawford or even a rematch against Garcia.
Thurman still doesn’t have anything particular decided for his next fight. After getting a beating during this grueling comeback fight against Josesito Lopez last month, it’s unlikely that he would be back for his title defense until May. Thurman’s face was swollen from Lopez’s shots
How Will It Effect Boxing?
Thurman-Broner fight wouldn’t be a good sign for boxing. It will set up a trend that undeserving boxers are given the chance at the title while those who work hard for the shot will be ignored.
Keith’s Time Is Up!
The way Thurman fought against Josesito, he’s not going to stay a world champion for much longer. Stay inactive from 2017 to 2019 was the worst thing which could happen to him. He is not the same fighter anymore. Even when Thurman was t his prime, he was barely better than Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter.
It shows that if a boxer like 30-year-old Thurman is unable to compete for two years because of his injuries, his boxing skills won’t remain the same. Thurman wanted to fight in last two years, but his elbow and hand problem kept him inactive. He did comeback to beat Lopez but his performance left a lot of fans thinking that Keith’s boxing days are over.
