Mikey Garcia Won’t Be Getting 50-50 Split Against Lomachenko
No 50-50 Split For Mikey
Mickey Garcia has lost his chances of getting a 50-50 purse split for his fight against Vasily Lomachenko in a unification fight, according to Bob Arum. Because of his embarrassing defeat against Spence.
Garcia Looking Forward To Lomachenko
Garcia is looking forward to move down to 135 and look forward to fight Lomachenko but Arum says that he won’t be getting a 50-50 split.
“I thought Mikey didn’t try,”
Arum said to esnews reporting about the Spence vs. Garcia fight.
“He was there. He saw the guy [Spence] was too big. He should have thought about that before he got into the fight. Then he played defense for 12 rounds. That’s cheating the people in my opinion. Mikey has really damaged his viability. So yeah, we’d do that fight, but it ain’t a 50-50 anymore,”
Arum said about the Lomachenko vs. Mikey Garcia fight.
Arum Doesn’t Want To Make This Match?
Maybe Arum doesn’t want to make the Mikey vs Lomachenko fight. Because Garcia is definitely not going to settle for less money.
Mikey Tried Hard Against Spence
Mikey tried his best againt Spence. It was bold of him to move him 2 weight classes and then going against someone much bigger than him. It doesn’t mater how Mikey fought. He just wasn’t big enough. If it was Lomachenko instead of Mickey in that fight, the result wouldn’t have been any different. Spence would have dominated him too because we all know how Lomachanko is when it comes to body shots. He just can’t take them. Mikey at least tried to fight Spence.
“He’s talking obviously in his favor, because that’s his fighter,”
Robert Garcia said to esnewsreporting in responding to Arum’s comment about Mikey no longer getting a 50-50 purse split against Lomachenko.
“It was a good experience. Spence wasn’t the right fight to take. So what? Go back to 135 or 140. He had an answer for everything Mikey,”
Robert said about Spence.
“He showed a lot. Mikey told us, ‘He had an answer for everything I tried.’ He fought a good fight, so we have to respect that,”
Mikey tried everything he could against Spence. But his size and reach weren’t enough. At the end of the fight, he gained some points by land some good punches. Spence didn’t go easy on Mikey in the last few rounds. He would have knocked him out if he could. But Mikey fought hard.
Is it fair on Garcia to not get 50-50 split?
